8 things to do at Wembley Park’s fireworks spectacular, Light Up the Night
Light Up the Night is BACK – and it’s our best one yet.
On Sunday 10th November, our FREE fireworks spectacular, celebrating both Diwali and Bonfire Night, will illuminate Wembley Park – and we cannot wait.
In true festival fashion, Light Up the Night is far more than just fireworks. It’s a family-friendly event with food, entertainment, live performances and, of course, fireworks.
With so much to do, we thought we would compile the best things to do at Light Up the Night.
Everyone favourite thing to do – eat! Yes, Light Up the Night will be stacked with food options, including a very special Street Food Market. From curry to pizza, chips to bratwurst, Market Square will be a foodies paradise on the night, so make sure you pay a visits before (or after!) the festivities to tuck into some seriously yummy grub. If you fancy sitting down to enjoy your food, head to Boxpark Wembley or London Designer Outlet (LDO) where you can pick from all of their incredible eateries. Boxpark will give you the social vibes with world cuisine (and three bars!!!), whereas LDO is perfect for families or more chilled out eating, with plenty high-street favorite restaurants.
CHECK OUT THE LIVE PERFORMANCES
If you’re coming down a little earlier (and we HIGHLY recommend you do), check out all of the pre-celebration live performances that are going on across the neighbourhood. From 4PM to 5:30PM, Wembley Park’s community hub The Yellow, have their very own stage with local acts taking the stage with some super fun and interactive performances. You can find them opposite the LDO. Roaming performers will also be filling the area with entertainment all night. Make sure you have your cameras ready for some truly memorable moments.
CATCH THE PARADE
The lantern and light parade is an absolute MUST see. One of the absolute highlights of the whole evening, Wembley Park’s streets and boulevards will be illuminated with a mesmerizing light parade full of live bands, dancers and hundreds of lanterns created by the local community from 6PM. But the real showstoppers are giant magical puppets and carnival-esque costumes. We don’t want to give it all away and run the surprise, but this year we have some INCREDIBLE hand-made and specially designed puppets for the parade that are going to blow your mind.
WITNESS THE FIRE BIRD
The ultimate parade jaw dropper – the Fire Bird. Recently seen at Worthy Farm as it partied at Glastonbury festival, the five-metres tall mythical Fire Bird is this years ‘WOW’ moment. Be astonished as the beautiful puppet stalks, bends, pecks and rears through the parade. No matter what age, you’re going to love it!
PARTY WITH BOXPARK WEMBLEY
The celebration is nonstop at Boxpark Wembley with all day Light Up the Night inspired fun. And we mean all day! From 2PM to 11PM, Boxpark Wembley is the pre and post event hotspot with TONS of fun things to do. If you head down early, make sure you stop by for some early festivities including Dhol players and dancers, henna artists, Bollywood screenings and THE GLAMAVAN! Yes, it’s your chance to get face painted and glittered up. The fun doesn’t stop either, as Boxpark Wembley is open till 11PM with Bhangra DJ’s and Live at Boxpark, Sunday Sessions. Eek.
MORE FUN AT LONDON DESIGNER OUTLET
You didn’t think we had just one celebration hotspot did you? No, no. London Designer Outlet are also helping you get into the Light Up the Night mood with some serious entertainment. From 4:30PM, LDO have a whole host of entertainment and offers to help you get into the festivities. Light up dancers will be showing off their moves and dancing to the beat of their dhol drummer, whilst you sample some of LDO’s delicious food offerings and sip on firework themed cocktails. If you’re down early enough (or want a post-fireworks chill) head to Cineworld and you can catch one of the latest blockbusters. Don’t forget, most of their restaurants are open until 10:30PM so make sure you head back from some treats!
LET OFF SOME STEAM AT THE KIDS’ PLAY AREA
If your kids are HALF as pumped as we are, they’re going to need to let off some steam at some point – and the perfect place for that is Kids’ Play Area. Found just outside LDO, the all-weather play area will allow the youngest in your group to let their imagination run wild and be the adventurer all kids want to be.
WATCH THE FIREWORKS – DUH!
Of course, the BEST thing to do at our FREE fireworks spectacular is watch the fireworks. Kicking off at 7PM, our biggest and best fireworks display YET will set off against the iconic backdrop of Wembley Stadium. It’s the perfect ending to a night of non-stop celebrations. The spectator’s area is in Yellow Car Park, so head their early to nab the best spot. Once it’s full you can stand elsewhere, but we can’t promise the same kind of views!
