Brent London Borough of Culture 2020
It’s almost been a whole year since Brent was announced as London Borough of Culture 2020 and what a year we’ve had planning!
Since receiving the prestigious award, we have got down to business to programme a curated year-long programme full of cultural events, activities and so much more.
These include a collaboration with Vice and Brent’s young people to develop their skills across film, radio and writing, a huge street party taking place along a pedestrianised A5, and an open air ‘Museum of all Brent Life’. During the year, Brent will also host a reggae music festival, and a Brent anthem will be composed to be performed at Wembley Stadium during Euro 2020.
Best thing – we want to hear from you!
Join us on Thursday 17th February at The Yellow, Humphrey Lane, for 2020 Culture Fund and Network – an opportunity to network, collaborate and innovate. With guest speakers and the chance to access the new 2020 Culture Funding grant and meet the team who are making Brent better than ever!
Cllr Muhammed Butt, Leader of Brent Council, said: “With the eyes of the world already on Wembley for Euro 2020, becoming London Borough of Culture represents an amazing opportunity to celebrate the huge diversity of Brent and of our great city to a massive international audience.
“London Borough of Culture is a game-changer for the capital,”Mayor Sadiq Khan said. “It will give all Londoners, regardless of background, the opportunity to enjoy the capital’s fantastic cultural riches, discover places they never knew existed and will increase the level of participation in the arts across the city – especially in outer London boroughs.”
