Celebrate International Women’s Day at Wembley Park with Brent Council
Come celebrate International Women’s Day this Tuesday 10th March at Brent Council’s FREE, open to everyone event!
From 10am to 2.30pm, Brent opens its Grand Hall for a super exciting event that welcomes all ages, genders and communities.
Included in the event will be keynote speakers Baroness Lola Young and Nabila Mallick – who have high-profile experience in the areas of law, immigration, politics, campaigning, ethics leadership and education – a panel discussion with local residents, information stalls, entertainment and lots of networking opportunities. Oh, and light refreshments of course!
The event is completely FREE and runs from 10am to 2:30pm on Tuesday 10th March 2020. You MUST book a free ticket in advance to attend.
As part of the event, there will also be some fundraising opportunities.
On the day, you’ll have the opportunity to pick up a raffle ticket to be in for a chance of winning some truly fantastic prizes WITH a good cause. The raffle will help raise money for ‘Bloody Good Period’, a charity whose mission is to end period poverty by providing sanitary products to those who need them, but can’t afford them.
Dress for Success
If you’ve got any lightly used, ladies workwear sitting at home that you no longer want, bring them along and donate them to Dress for Success.
Dress for Success takes donations of high quality workwear to give to their clients for upcoming interviews or work. They take anything that makes someone feel fab and confident including anything work appropriate attire, smart shoes and handbags, accessories and unused cosmetics.
If you have nothing to donate, they’re always accepting cash donations too so they can continue to operate and provide this vital service.
If you do donate clothes, please make sure they are clean and neatly folded. It’s not necessary to bring them on coat hangers, but they appreciate a high-street style shopping bag!
Suited and Booted
Looking for suits, shirts, ties, cufflinks and belts, and shoes – Suited and Booted gives all donations to one of their clients to make him feel good, gain confidence and increase his chances of a more successful outcome.
In need of quality men’s clothing and footwear in all sizes, they are desperate for shoes and suits in larger sizes (above chest 44”) and smaller suits (chest 38”and below).
Please make sure all clothes are clean and interview ready when donating.
They also really appreciate any spare suit bags, toiletries, new socks and underwear, as well as coats and warm jackets for the winter.
Both Dress for Success and Suited and Booted will be accepting donations at Brent Civic Centre from 10am to 5pm on Tuesday 10th March.
Donations will be accepted at the registration point for the International Women’s Day 2020 event – this will be outside the Grand Hall on Level 1 at Brent Civic Centre.
