Don’t miss RISE – Brent 2020’s opening spectacle
It’s officially 2020, which can only mean one thing – Brent is London’s Borough of Culture!
As Principal Partner of Brent 2020, Wembley Park is proud to be hosting RISE – the FREE opening event of Brent’s year as London Borough of Culture. A large-scale outdoor spectacular with a community cast of hundreds, telling the story of Brent through dance, theatre and projections, set to an incredible soundtrack, against the backdrop of Wembley Stadium.
RISE will tell the story of how, for generations, people of different countries, faiths and backgrounds came to find a new life here and make their future together.
Come rain or shine, ALL RISE!
RISE is suitable for all ages and is completely FREE. It will be held on Olympic Way, Wembley Park on Saturday 18th January from 7PM.
The Mayor’s London Borough of Culture award brings Londoners together. A year-long celebration of culture, of everything that makes Brent amazing. The people who live here, who’ve grown here, who’ve come here from all across the world. The amazing culture that those people make and do – the music, the poetry, the dancing, the food, the sounds and the sound clashes.
Brent is the home of Rachel Yankey, Riz Ahmed, Zadie Smith, the Grunwick strikers, legendary family businesses, famous Irish pubs, trailblazing young poets, Metroland architects, great roads and the builders of the biggest Hindu Temple in Europe. Like Brent they did, and do, things in their own way.
The year long programme starts with RISE. To find out more and explore the full Brent 2020 programme visit their website.
