The National Theatre’s production of War Horse has it’s first show at Troubadour Wembley Park.
Returning to London after a world-wide sell out tour, the critically acclaimed masterpiece returns to London in 2019 with its limited six week run – and tickets are selling fast!
The unforgettable theatrical experience, based on Michael Morpurgo’s novel, follows the story of Joey, young Albert’s beloved horse who gets sold to the Cavalry at the outbreak of World War One. When Joey gets caught up in enemy fire, fate takes him on an extraordinary journey which ends with him alone in no man’s land. Albert, who is not old enough to enlist and has remained on his parents farm in Devon, cannot forget Joey and embarks on his own treacherous mission to bring him home.
The production is praised for its powerfully moving story and imaginative drama, filled with stirring music and songs, is a show of phenomenal inventiveness. At its heart are astonishing life-sized horses by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company, who bring breathing, galloping, charging horses to thrilling life on stage.
