Jayshree and Ruby
“We love crafting so much that we decided to bring creativity to others and help the community learn new skills and make new friends.”
When we heard about the Yellow from a friend, we decided that this would be a great place to set up our Creative Coffee morning class which has been running for two years now.
Jayshree – I have been crafting since I was a young child back home in Keyna and from an early age I was interested in fashion design and used to design clothes for friends and family. However, as time went on I became more interested in other craft forms such as flower arranging, Mehdi art, paper crafts, and much, much more. I also encourage my children to craft and we take part in competitions all the time.
Ruby – “I blame Jayshree for getting me into crafts as I was more interested in sewing, knitting and crochet. Then, when I met Jayshree 10 years ago she introduced me to her passion of crafting and my interest started to develop and grow.
We have about six to 12 people on weekly basis at the Yellow and we offer different creative activities every week, like card-making techniques, crochet, mixed media creation, painting, book folding, origami and many more crafts. We also encourage our members to share their skills and run some craft sessions, themselves, as this is great for confidence boosting and empowerment.
Wembley Park is a buzzing, bright and vibrant neighbourhood that started and grew our creative coffee morning classes. Not only has it opened up our personal paths for our passions it has provided the local community with opportunities to express their creativity.
