Laxmi is an artist, focusing on female empowerment and has a studio in Wembley Park.
I’m an artist and an illustrator. I draw and paint in mainly blue ink focusing on the female form. I like to express what is beautiful about the diversity of women’s bodies, that we aren’t all the same and that should be celebrated. I am most inspired by real women, connecting with them via social media and drawing them, it is empowering for me as the artist as well as the individual. I feel I can see the women for all they are and I just want to share that with the world. We are fortunately in an age where it is much easier for us to see real women’s bodies, and whilst there is still a lot of work to do, I feel that by shining a light on the diversity of our bodies we can start to remove the ideal that we should all aspire to be a certain kind of ‘perfect’.
I am particularly excited to have just moved my studio to the Wembley Park community, Wembley has been my home since I was just 9 months old, I’ve watched it transform, I can’t wait to see how it further unfolds and I want to be a part of that. Bringing my art closer to home enables me to share my passion with the community, I love to share drawing and that everyone should be able to use drawing as a mindful activity.
